6 ways to do more with Adcash self-service

Top Tips for Adcash Self-Service Advertisers.

Just getting started affiliate marketing with the Adcash Self-Service platform? Want to learn how to get the most from the tools and options available? Read on to find out how…

With affiliate targeting, less means more

The most common reason for advertisers seeing lower than expected impressions is being overly specific in the targeting options they select. By narrowing down your audience too much, you risk not reaching users who could potentially become your customers. If you broaden your criteria a bit, you will almost certainly see that your impression count will grow.

We suggest that, when you first launch your campaign, you keep the targeting options as broad as possible, and then, by analyzing the data you can narrow down your audience to the point where you’re completely satisfied. You may be tempted at first to dive into all the really detailed advanced targeting options right away, but we recommend that you avoid doing this.

Bid more to get more traffic

Like almost anything in this world, you get what you pay for and CPM bids are no different. When you launch your campaign our system will provide you with a Suggested Bid. By bidding at or above this recommended level, you will greatly improve the potential for your ad campaign to generate traffic and gain traction.

The results generated by the system are dynamic and take into account the targeting options and ad formats you initially selected for your campaign. If your bid comes in below the suggested value, you are more likely to see a lower number of impressions.

Use the affiliate scheduling tools

Optimize and improve your campaign by using the scheduling tools that the self-service feature on the Adcash DSP platform offers. We suggest that you first launch your campaign and set it to run every day of the week. Then, after getting a baseline of data, you can use the self-service reports to see what days your campaign is performing the best.

For example, if you are advertising a football match in the sporting vertical, your audience may be more active on a weekend. These metrics can vary greatly, according to region, ad format, and category, so we suggest you always get a strong baseline of data before diving into the various optimization options.

This just in! We’ve now also added the capability to check your hourly campaign performance on the DSP platform, meaning you can gauge your analytics on a more granular level, which will, in turn, allow you to optimize even further.

Continue to test your active campaigns and landing pages

A/B test two similar, yet slightly different landing pages to see which one results in more conversions. By creating two (almost) identical campaigns, with a slight variation between the two, you can get clear, actionable information very quickly. In order to do this, head over to the campaign actions menu on the Adcash DSP platform and select “duplicate” from the campaign dropdown. F0r example, if you were targeting mobile users exclusively, you could create one campaign to target Android devices and the other for iOS devices. Very quickly you will start to see how each is performing.

Stay in line with campaign validation requirements

We want your campaigns to generate a positive ROI right from the start.  That’s why it’s important you take note of and stick to the below campaign validation requirements. Here are a few key pointers to get you on your way.

Adult Content
The platform doesn’t support adult content. If you submit a creative or landing page that is promoting adult-related content, it won’t be approved by the system.

Copyright Infringement
Using another company’s brand, logo, or content to promote your own product or campaign is prohibited according to our terms and conditions.

Incomplete Landing Pages
If you’re using the platform and targeting a specific ad format for your campaign, you’ll need to make sure the page you submit links back to a complete website. To do this, you can use a landing page, with a call-to-action that sends traffic directly to your site.

Pop-under ads. The format for success

Adcash is the world leader for pop under traffic (also known as “site under” traffic). It’s our best-performing ad format and a great way to drive strong traffic and impressions.  We tend to use the pop-under format more frequently as opposed to pop up because web users and publishers tend to find it less intrusive.

This means that they are far less likely to associate negativity with the ad when it appears on their screen. Also, because of the scale of our pop-under traffic, this is where you are most likely to receive the most impressions. Find out right here why pop-unders are so effective

Adcash DSP platform. Final thoughts

So, to sum up, the main points to keep in mind when using the Adcash self-service platform are:

  • Get a baseline of data before you start optimizing.
  • Run your campaigns with the broadest targeting options possible (to start), and then narrow down over time.
  • Take note of the suggested ad format bidding values.
  • Test multiple variations of your campaigns and find out which works the best to repeat your successes.
  • Make sure your campaigns follow the Adcash guidelines.

The only thing left I'd like to understand is how to get the white and the black lists. Is there any article on that?

Do I need to upload a creative image? 100KB is really small and an image that size would seem to have little impact....

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. At this point the 100 KB limit what the system allows for, however we are currently looking into how feasible it would be to increase this. If you wouldn't mind, please give us an idea of what file size would suit you better?

Thanks for the great article. The main points for me to take away are not to get too specific with the ad campaigns from the start, and to make use of split testing your ad campaigns.

Many thanks! Exactly: with anything related to digital acquisition, whether it's banner ads, pop ads or even email marketing, the key is to keep testing and optimising.
